Corfield Church of England Infant School

Valley CiDS

Valley CiDS is an independent Christian charity based throughout Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.

The 'Quest Team' works with primary schools to enrich the RE curriculum by providing stimulating and engaging ways to learn about faith.

They enhance the existing work being led by school staff, by enabling them to experience ways of teaching and delivering RE, that move beyond traditional forms of education, through providing support and ideas to complement the RE curriculum.

They lead collective worship/school assemblies which includes a variety of storytelling techniques, object lessons, puppets, magic tricks as well as lively songs to help bring Bible stories to life.

These engaging techniques help children to reflect upon the moral values taught through the Bible stories, as well as exploring what Christians believe.

At Corfield we work closely with Valley CiDS to enrich our RE lessons. They deliver Whole school assemblies and collective worship once each term. They also run lunchtime clubs each full term.

Alongside this, we work with them to plan and deliver whole school tableaus to bring important Christian events and celebrations to life.

Reception

In Reception we have had lots of fun leaning all about the Creation Story.

We loved making our own Creation wheels after we had joined in with the story.

Year 1

In Year 1 we really enjoyed learning all about the bible story 'The Prodigal Son'.

Year 2

In Year 2 we have been learning all about the story of The Creation.
